Illinois Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn's new running mate, law professor Sheila Simon, hit the campaign trail for the first time Monday, embarking on a six-city tour that helped showcase the geographic balance the Carbondale resident adds to the ticket. "I come from a tradition of understanding that government can serve the people, and I think that folks in southern and central Illinois understand that and are looking forward to an open dialog," Simon said.
