  • Going to try IVF one last time...possibly

Hello...I wanted to just step back in to INCIID to say hello. I have been away from the boards a long time (about 6 years). I am thinking of attempting IVF one last time before I get too old (currently 36.5). I have done IVF more times than I care to remember without success. Since that time, I have gotten rid of my high school sweetheart/husband and gained a new man that makes me feel like the Queen of England. IVF surfaced back on my mind about 3 months ago...and so we are contemplating it now. Good luck to all of those cyclers! I know all too well the anxiety you are experiencing.

    Hi Yolanda

Do you mind if I ask what your infertility problems are? Do you have an idea of when you would want to do IVF if you decided that's what you wanted to do?

Well...I only have one ovary. I had blocked fallopian tubes so they are removed. I had elevated NKA back in 2004 when I did the IVFs. I tried IVIg but that didn't work. My last IVF that I did ended in a chemical pregnancy. When I started IVF in 1999 at the tender age of 26, IVF was supposed to be easy and succesful according to statistics. Well, so much for statistics...here I am again, 10 years later.

      Thanks for asking.

Oh..I forgot to answer all the questions. I am applying for the IVF scholarship (March 15th deadline) and will await those selections. If not chosen, we will have to figure out how to fund the IVFs for the later part of this year. Unfortunately, I am still paying for the IVFs from 6 years ago.

I'm sorry to hear of all the things you have had to go through. But I bet there have been some technological advances since your last IVF that will make your chances better this time around. Have you talked to a reproductive endocrinologist about what a future IVF cycle would involve or have you chosen a doctor to go to yet?

I have a phone consult with Dr. Peter Ahlering at the Sher Institute on 3/12. He did my last 2 IVFs and I LOVED him...so back to him I go. I hope he has some new ideas for me. I am excited and nervous at the same time. I know that you clearly understand my emotions, unfortunately.

Oh I have heard so many good things about him, you are definitely in good hands. And I think he might be a part of the scholarship program, a lot of SIRM doctors are. Let me know how your phone consult goes!

                    Hey Annette,

He had to re-schedule me. It was at 4:30. Now it will be Sunday at 4:30.

After trying to get all of my paperwork for the IVF scholarship turned in on time, they would extend the deadline until April 30th. Just give me the scholarship and wait on the other applicant, why don't ya????
