Utah Rep. Jim Matheson posts a 57 percent approval rating in his district, according to a Deseret News/KSL poll, despite holding one of the reddest seats of any Democrat in the county. In the survey conducted by Dan Jones & Associates, Matheson, who voted against the health care reform bill on Sunday, performs even better among independents and Republicans than with voters of his own party. Fifty-seven percent of Democrats approve of his performance in Congress, but that number is 64 percent among Republicans and 69 percent among independents.
