Former GOP state Rep. Victor Moffitt joined the race for governor of Rhode Island Thursday, setting up a primary fight with John Robitaille, a former aide to Gov. Don Carcieri. Moffitt touted his financial and legislative background in announcing his candidacy. "We can’t be working trying to solve problems when they come up. We have to be proactive," said Moffitt. The winner of the GOP primary is expected to face former Sen. Lincoln Chafee, who's running as an independent, and Democratic Attorney General Patrick Lynch or state Treasurer Frank Caprio in the general."
