Arizona businesswoman Nan Stockholm Walden announced she won't run for the Democratic nomination for Sen. John McCain's seat, saying in a statement that "the time is not right." Some Democrats viewed Walden as a candidate who could make the Senate race competitive, if former Rep. J.D. Hayworth bested McCain in the Republican primary or severely damaged him. Tucson City Councilman Rodney Glassman is already running for the Democratic nomination.
