Arkansas Lt. Gov. Bill Halter got some welcome polling news earlier this week when an automated poll showed him within single digits of Sen. Blanche Lincoln in a Democratic primary. But a new Daily Kos/Research 2000 poll released Thursday suggests Halter's numbers may not be catching up to Lincoln's quickly enough. The poll had him back 12 percentage points, taking 33 percent of the vote to Lincoln's 45 percent, after he trailed by 13 percent in late March. The numbers shouldn't be too reassuring to Lincoln, though: she's still under 50 percent in her own party's primary.
