    Hi!!

    Sorry I couldn't reply sooner!

Thank you so much for sharing what you went through on your road to adoption. Adoption doesn't seem as scary to me now. Knowing what the process is like now, do you think you will adopt again, and if so from China again?

I saw your blog, your daughter is sooo cute!!

My husband and I sent in an application for INCIID's Heart scholarship program for IVF treatment, so we're just waiting for the committee to review our application.

      IVF success rate

I have been reading in some of the forums and see that the rate of a successful IVF can be slim. This is really scary to me seeing as my fertility doctor said that IVF or adoption were our only options. Are there any 1st time success stories?

I think the success rate really depends on a lot of things, like what fertility issues you are facing, your age, and the success rate of the clinic that you go to. I went to an orientation at UCSF here in California and the success rate for my age group was 45-52% there. Don't give up hope! So many people have been successful with IVF. My husband's cousin just got pregnant with twins in July and it was her first IVF round.

          Thank you Annette,

That gives me a little hope. Unfortunately, time is not on my side but I am going to try to stay optimisic. I guess I need to check and see the success rate of the fertility clinic i am with as well.

I have seen IVF work more times than not, despite age. If you can afford the treatment it is so worth it to try. Even if you can't afford it, you could apply for INCIID's Heart scholarship. I just put in my application last week. I know it is a scary prospect to think that IVF is the only option to have a child, we are at that point too. But it is so much more effective than any other kind of treatment and I am trying to stay optimistic too and hopefully our application will be accepted for the scholarship program.

I wish you the best of luck!!

              Ivf

The majority of people who get pregnant with IVF get pregnant within the first 3 attempts, having said that your particular situation has to be considered on its own merit. I am providing you to a link for the Center for Disease Control web site which will give you success rates for individual clinics. Currently about 94% of clinics provide data for this web site. You also have to factor in that some clinics take much more difficult cases and this might influence their success rates - the best recommendation I can make after you have done some research is to sit down with your RE and go over your personal medical history and treatment options. Kindest Liz (I believe 2005 are the latest available figures.

                  Hi Calamity

Great news about your second adoption - thank you so much for being a support for the people who have posted on the Board long after you were here seeking your own resolution. It makes a tremendous difference in the lives of those in the middle of the struggle to see that there are many roads toward family - my warmest wishes to you and yours - thank you for your kind and insightful words for Annette - best Liz

                    Hi Calamity!

I am so excited to hear about your upcoming adoption!! I hope the process goes smoothly for you. Do you have a preference of another girl or a boy? And age?

We applied for the Heart scholarship so we will see how that goes. After speaking with you, I am not so afraid of adoption if our path comes to that.
