I have been diagnosed with hydrosalphinx in one fallopian tube and the other on was blocked when an ectopic pregnancy was removed. My fertility doctor informed me that if I still wanted to have children I would need to under go IVF. The one question that I forgot to ask him during my last visit was....how will the hydrosalphinx affect the my next pregnancy if IVF is successful? Please let me know your thoughts or experience pregnanct after hydrosalphinx. Thanks in advance.

An untreated hydrosalpinx has the potential for lowering the odds of success (pregnancy) in an IVF cycle and for increasing the risk of pregnancy loss (miscarriage). Has your RE discussed this with you? If not, it's imperative you discuss this prior to undergoing an IVF cycle.

Hydrosalphinx
Dr. Roseff, thanks for your response. When I received the diagnosis, I was told that my HMO could no longer assist me. My OBGYN had refered me to the fertility physician and once diagnosed I was given a list of IVF facilites. My HMO actually covers fertility medications and testing but that is as far as it goes. I have been doing some research and read that the tube with Hydrosalphinx will need to be surgecially blocked. Can this be done by the same physician that would perform the IVF?
