Ever since I have been off of birth control (3yrs now) I have had hot flashes. I never knew why and supposedly had normal test results when the doctor did a little bit of hormone testing. I have been diagnosed with the genetic problem of diminshed ovarian reserve by my fertility specialist doctor. He has also told me that I need donor egg with invitro to have any chances of having my own baby. My day 3 FSH test result was 41.7 and day 10 was 46.8. With a day 10 LH of 20.7. My question is - Could my hot flashes have anything to do with my problem? Are the hot flashes to be expected? And if there is anyway to relieve them at all with anything other than birth control pills or estrogen?

A cycle day 3 FSH of 41.7 is consistent with premature ovarian failure. I'm hoping when you wrote that you had a day 10 FSH of 46.8 you weren't given Clomid....
As a broad generalization, a woman with an FSH over 40 usually has such low ovarian function that her estrogen would be low much or most of the time, resulting in potential hot flashes. If your "fertility specialist" told you this is all normal, then you're clearly not seeing a "true fertility specialist".

Hi,
It was actually one of my past obgyns who originally told me I had normal hormone levels even though I am having hot flashes. I do not see this particular obgyn anymore because I did not think I was getting thorough care.
An actual fertility specialist did do the FSH clomid challenge test when I was tested and those were my day 3 and day 10 results with the clomid on board. Would my test be different without using the clomid? Or probably just as bad?Comment

Someone with a cycle day 3 FSH over 40, by definition, has severely diminished ovarian reserve, and it makes no sense to do a Clomid challenge test in that type of situation. Perhaps you didn't see a Board Certified RE???Comment
