  • Low Estrogen during stimulation

i have done several iui cycles with follistim. 2 failed and 1 resulted in a pregnancy that miscarried around 5 weeks.
during every cycle my e2 levels are very low. generally under 100 when i take the ovidrel even though i have several+ mature follicles. the cycle i got pregnant my e2 was around 125 when i took the oviderl. the doctor expected it to be over 1000 and was going to cancel for fear of hyperstim until she saw the e2 #.
my fsh #s are always fine, 4-5 or so. my e2 is generally fine at cycle day 3 although 1 time it was 100.
i have skinny pcos (not insulin resistant)
have you ever seen anything like this? why would this be happening? will this affect my success with ivf?

****NOTE: m/c mentioned in this thread****

    Hi,

I have only seen this in extremely poor responders, and they usually have immature (<15 mm) follicles. I'm assuming you're in the U.S. and talking about pg/ml when you're listing your E2 levels (they use different units of measure outside the U.S.).

As a broad generalization, a peak E2 under 100 pg/ml prognosticates poorly for pregnancy success in a stimulation/IUI or IVF cycle - Something doesn't sound right at all here.

I HIGHLY suggest you gather up your records and have them reviewed by a qualified, Board Certified RE for a second opinion before moving on with another cycle (especially IVF). You're certainly welcome to do so here, if you wish (Have you seen our IVF success rates?!)....

    Hope this helps!
