  • PGD at 40yrs

    Hi Dr
Would you advice pgd with own eggs after age 40yrs, I would be 41yrs in January
My first Ivf, I had 18eggs, but they could only get 8eggs as left ovary was dificult to access, I had 5 embs, all 8 cell on day 3 transferred but i still got BFN,
My next cycle i was thinking of doing cgh or pgd, but i only got 6 eggs and 4 made it to blast and was frozen,as i had problems with my lining
When my lining improves, I am thinking of the possibility of a fresh cycle with pgd, as I am not sure how competent my frozen blasts are.
    Although with GSE scorring 1 was 90, 2 were 80 and 1 was 30

Would you advice a fresh cycle or FET
    thanks

    Hi,

While it's illegal for me to tell you specifically what to do next, I can give you a few broad generalizations that should be critically helpful to you.

    1. PGD isn't generally recommended for women of advanced reproductive age, or for women with IVF failure; In fact, it has been shown to LOWER the overall odds of pregnancy success. Indeed, in 12/07 the ASRM published the conclusions including (and not limited to):
--> Available evidence does not support the use of PGS as currently performed to improve live-birth rates in patients with advanced maternal age.
--> Available evidence does not support the use of PGS as currently performed to improve live-birth rates in patients with previous implantation failure.

    2. In order to best tell you what your next step would be, I would need to have you undergo a "second opinion" consultation and record review here in FL. If this is something you're interested in, please let me know. Have you seen OUR renowned IVF success rates?
