  • IVF with nucleus transfer to DE

    Hi Dr Roseff,
    I am 43 and TTC for 2years.
I would like to know if there is any place on earth where RE can do IVF /ICSI using my egg and DH's sperm and then transfer the nucleus into a doner egg? This way 90%of the genetic material is our's and 10%would be of the doner's egg.
Would the above be a sure shot method to gurantee a baby of my own genetic material? what would be cost of such a proceedure? This surely should take care of the genetics and success of IVF IN THE 1ST SHOT AND WOULD SAVE A LOT OF PEOPLE LIKE ME MONEY AND MENTAL STRESS? Request you to give me a reply asap.
Thanks in advance for yr reply.

    Hi,

Nuclear transfer (the procedure you described) was tried many years ago and resulted in a high percentage of genetically abnormal embryos. I believe (though can't be absolutely certain) that those findings resulted in the determination by the FDA and other governing bodies in the U.S. that the procedure should be classified as "experimental" and only available (IF available) through a research study overseen by an Institutional Review Board (IRB).

Sorry I can't be of more help....
