  • IVF and cyst

Can someone pursue IVF & PGD (or CGH) while having a functional cyst of 2.5-3 cm on one ovary? The cyst does't grow and doesn't go away for about 2 years. It didn't affect conceiving.
Is a BC pill required in this situation? Did you see cases of shrinking under these circumstances?
    Thank you.

A cyst that large can potentially interfere with ovarian stimulation. If the ovary doesn't respond well to stim, then there may not be a lot of eggs and therefore may not be a lot of resulting embryos. When we perform PGD, we like to have a lot of embryos because there is such an attrition by day 5 (embryos may stop growing, and others may be genetically abnormal) that with few embryos at the end, it may result in no embryos left for transfer.

I hope this makes some sense...

Thank you for answer, Dr Roseff. I appreciate it. Did you find birth control pills efficient (in similar cases)?
