I am 34 years old. I am 5'9" and weigh 280lbs. My last real attempt at pregnancy culminated 4 years ago with IVF. It was my 1st (and only) IVF cycle, in which I had 2 embryos transfered, and resulted in a twin pregnancy. I has an incompatent cervix at 22weeks, that ended with loosing both babies (the 1st at 22wks and the second at 24wks).
I had been diagnosed with pcos & endo. Also, I have only 1 tube and 1 overy. Since then, I have not actively been trying to get pregnant, but have also not been using any contraception. My cycles are very irregular, usually lasting too long, with heavey periods.
This past November, I had a tubal pregnancy. I only had that one tube, but my OB was able to 'save' it. My OB also told me that she did not see any endometriosis at that time.
I had 2 subsequent HSG's in the following months. The first, my tube was blocked. In the second, they were able to clear the blockage. I then did not have an actual period for 2.5 months, but spotted every day. Finally, it came, it was very heavy and long. I passed 4 golf ball size clots.
I feel like I am now emotionally ready to act and do something to try and concieve once more. But I don't know what I should do. I have moved to TN, to a small town. I don't feel I am getting the advice I need from my OB. She is very good at obstetrics, but I don't think she has a clue about infertility and always seems too busy to deal with ALL my issues. I cannot switch, because out of the few doc's we have in this area, she is the best. The nearest endo is probably 80 miles away.
If I do start again, should I start from scratch since I was able to get pregnant on my own last year?. Should I start with clomid?
Since my one tube has scar tissue now, would it not be recommended? am I more likely to have another eptoic? Am I better off doing IVF?
Should I even attempt another pregnancy, due to my over weight? I don't know what is the best thing to do.
