    ivf

    Hi Dr Fisch,

    Thank you for your reply.

My RE says the success with IVF for a 42year old in his clinic is about 10-20%.

This means for me to become pregnant (100% success) with IVF would take 5-10 attempts!!!

Pls adv if this is worthwhile.
Also I have midcycle bleeding and my RE says it should not interfere with the IVF proceedure. Is this correct?

    Thanks in advance.

At 42 the average delivery rate is about 15%. This is unfortunately not additive, so 5 cycles doesn't guarrantee a baby. However the chance of success is not zero and so you have a tough choice. I usually ask couples to seriously evaluate what the true goal is. If it is to get a baby with your eggs, then trying as hard as you can is reasonable, despite a decreased chance of success. If the goal is to get a baby as quickly and efficiently as possible, an egg donor would be a better option, since one transfer typically results in 60-70% chance of delivery.

        doner egg cytoplasm

        Hi Dr Fisch,

Please adv if it is possible that they use the genetic material of my eggs and the cytoplasm of doner eggs in IVF.
Would the success % still be 60% in this case?

        Thanks/Kiran

Although intreguing, there is no evidence that this type of treatment works. I would not give this option a very high chance of success.

            natural precess

            Hi Dr Fisch,

            Thank you for your reply.

Since HSG test shows my tubes are clear, I would like to know, suppose I use follicular monitoring and time bd, what would be the percentage of becoming pregnant naturally?

I understand about egg quality and sperm quality and quantity but suppose in some way I overrule these, do you thing the percentage to become pregnant would be high?

I would like to try naturally for 2months before I go for IVF, do you thing my decision is correct?

            Thanks so much in advance

With unexplained infertiltiy we would only expexct about 2-3% chance of pregnancy per month.
