    1. am or pm?
-- am during weekdays; late afternoon on weekends

    2. inside or outside?
    -- right now, outside

    3. treadmill, track, city streets?
-- right now - streets... we have a treadmill at home, but we are living in a rental during renos and so i started running outside a couple weeks ago...

    4. if city streets, do you take the same route each time?
-- in the am yes - it's so dark and i'm a bit nervous, so i stick to certain areas that i've become familiar with...

    5. do you run for distance or time? that is, would you stop when you reach your time goal or your distance goal?
-- i aim to be out for half an hour... during the week, my route seems to be bang on (and i ain't getting any faster at it!)...

    6. how frequently?
-- aim for 4 mornings a week and 2 afternoons on weekends... my doc has just warned me that this will be hard on my body and i should consider switching one of my morning runs with something like swimming or weights... she's probably right, but not sure how i'd swing it... might think about switching wtih a yoga or pilates video...

She and her hubby have done a bunch of IronMan competitions and such. She said that you shouldn't run every day... it's way too hard on the muscles - they don't get good recovery. She obviously mixes it with biking and swimming for triathlon events, but right now I am doing Pilates on my off days, and one day off per week. I relish the day off, and work harder towards that.

I LOVE Pilates, and seriously, I really notic the difference in my body and strength.

Great job sticking to a routine.

        1. am or pm? When I can but prefer am

        2. inside or outside? Prefer outside and love runing in the cold much more than summer

        3. treadmill, track, city streets? Country lanes

        4. if city streets, do you take the same route each time? Have 3 or 4 routes I can take

        5. do you run for distance or time? that is, would you stop when you reach your time goal or your distance goal? When outside its distance, on the treadmill (which I use from time to time becasue of knee injury and tread is kinder to it!) its time (as SO boring!)

        6. how frequently? At best 3 x per week (did 10k in summer) - knee issues mean down to 1/2 per week, but I also swim half mile front crawl 3 x per week

          1. I prefer am. Sometimes do late afternoon or evening

          2. I prefer outside, but do a lot of treadmill running

          3. streets or treadmill

          4. I have some regular routes. There is one route that I mostly do if I go right out my front door. There are a couple places I love to run that are worth driving to and are always the same route.

          5. I run for distance. I map my route ahead of time and am usually very good about completing the planned route and not taking any short cuts!

          6. 3 or 4 days a week. Averaging 20-25 miles a week.

            1. am or pm? AM - preferably first thing so I don't talk myself out of it

            2. inside or outside? Inside

            3. treadmill, track, city streets? Treadmill

            4. if city streets, do you take the same route each time?

            5. do you run for distance or time? that is, would you stop when you reach your time goal or your distance goal? I usually set a time goal, rather then distance

            6. how frequently? Well normally 3-4x a week. But I've been sick for a month and have only been 4-5 times this month.

              1. am or pm?

              am

              2. inside or outside?

outside - no matter what the weather

              3. treadmill, track, city streets?

during the week we walk the nature trail on post (goes 8 miles to the lake on a winding path), on the weekends we walk the golf course (2.5 miles for one loop)

              4. if city streets, do you take the same route each time?
              yes

              5. do you run for distance or time? that is, would you stop when you reach your time goal or your distance goal?

Distance - we do 25 miles a week and have one long day (Wednesday - 10 miles) and then 3 short days

              6. how frequently?

              we walk MWF and Saturday

              **********
We walk MWF in the am because our "group" that walks all have children that go to the same preschool from 7:30 - 11:30. It works out great that we can walk without the kids and with adult-only conversations. It's wonderful.

On Saturdays, we have some moms that have kids in strollers, but I usually leave mine at home. I LOVE having the "me" time to walk without kids in tow! It started out walking for the health benefits, but now its definitely turned into me walking for the mental health benefits I get!

Outside as much as possible...I do have a treadmill but reserve it for only the nastiest snowiest days or when DS is home and I'm by myself w/him.

                3. treadmill, track, city streets?
Streets unless I'm doing a specific track workout then I head to the HS track.

                4. if city streets, do you take the same route each time?
No - I have multiple routes for multiple distances

                5. do you run for distance or time? that is, would you stop when you reach your time goal or your distance goal?
                Distance goal

                6. how frequently?
                5 days a week...the two days that I don't run I walk.

                Nice poll!
