Hello ladies. I need to know what works best for appetite control. Mine seems to be outta whack for the past two weeks and I can't get it under control at all. Try eating lots of veggies and salads to fill me up without too many calories, whole wheat and whole grains, etc. and drinking lots of water, but I'm still hungry. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You need some fat in your diet, too, so you feel satisfied and don't get hungry. You also need enough protein. Veggies and salad are not going to cut it. Are you eating a hearty breakfast? It should give you enough fuel to keep you from getting hungry for at least 4-5 hours. Don't skimp on breakfast because it sets the tone for the rest of the day. If you start out with a hearty breakfast, make sure you have one more substantial mean and one light one. Factor in a filling or satisfying snack when you feel the most likely to break down or be hungry. If you add some good fats (oils, nuts, hard cheese) and make sure you get enough protein you should be able to lose weight without being hungry. If you cannot get through the day without something sweet, factor it in but make sure it is not too caloric.
We are talking about this sort of thing on the Diet and Fitness board. C'mon over!

2 things that help me are fiber and protein...m
I am really, really focusing on them. Lots of raspberries, oatmeal, chix (i'll do a 3oz portion for snack), almonds, cottage cheese, yogurt. I am also working on just taking a glass of water everytime I think I'm hungry. I don't know if it's stopping me from eating, but my skin looks great.

Thanks for the advice. The funny thing is I do focus on fiber and protein a lot, have been trying to avoid most carbs (chips, etc.) just because I know they aren't good for me. I'll have a baked chicken breast, some brown rice and broccoli for dinner and still feel hungry. I'm not overweight, probably considered underweight after a recent 8lb weight loss (not trying, just due to stress) and wonder if my appetite is just my body trying to get back to "normal." I do eat breakfast and have to have protein at that meal or I'm starving a few hours later. And I drink lots of water during the day too. Just really strange for me because usually I don't have much of an appetite at all.
