  • Check in MLK holiday week

I know those in the U.S. are on holiday today, but do check in when you can. Let's help each other make it to a healthier and fitter spring -- only about 2 months away!

On that note, we finally had some sun and above freezing temps today. And this fact caused me to have a crying fit. This is the second time something like this has happened: I wake up to sun after days or weeks of grey clouds, snow or freezing rain and what do I feel? Not happiness that it is a nice day but RAGE and frustration. Kind of like a kid who has to wait while everyone else gets something particularly delightful, and when everyone is finished with it and already moving on, the kid finally gets that cherished thing...and throws it on the ground and stomps it. Shall I tell you all how I *really* feel?

It was a cut off your nose to spite your face kind of day for me. I am slowly coming around but still giving this nice day evil glances. Did my routine at the sports club as usual, gnashing my teeth all the while, and decided I will only weigh in once a week on Fridays, when I have had a full work week to get my body (and mind) back to normal. So based on last Friday am I down about 2 pounds from the week before. Whoppee-frikkin-do!

Hope everyone else is in a better state of mind and getting (or staying) motivated. I promise to write more upbeat things next week.

I'm feeling kind of frustrated today. I exercised every day last week and for a good amount of time each time. My calories were under each day. Yet I'm up a pound. Sigh.

We went sledding on Saturday. My neck is so stiff. I was pretty tired from climbing back up after each run. On a side note, DH and I were stunned by how stupid most people were that were there. We were one of the few families that walked up the SIDE of the hill. Most people walked up the center of the hill and were surprised when people were screaming to get out of the way or when they were hit and run over. Or they'd just stop halfway down and just sit there. I mean, come on!

I"m fairly motivated. I"m not workign reallly hard at watching what I eat in terms of the healthiest choices, so I might eat a few cookies, then only be able to have a piece of fruit or salad for lunch. So, I should meal plan a little better.

exercise is just sort of whatever. I do a good amount, but dont' have a plan or a goal. In the past, I write down what I want/plan to do for a month of exercise instead of just waking up and wondering what I might do that day. I need to do that again.

            starting today..

My exercise has been great for some time.(did the couch to 5 K and ran my first 5K in 2009)...also took up weight lifting... but.. as my trainer said today... exercise won't take off the extra 30 pounds I am carrying. (and have carried for years and years) Over the last 5 years I've lost about 40 pounds. I'm a very slow learner. <g> Now I'm back to where I was before infertility treatments started 15 years ago.

17 weeks from today I am turning 50. I'm determined to lose at least 20 by then. I dug out my old weight watchers points book from 5 years ago and I'm going to follow that. I already know most of those points values.

Count me in on the weekly checkins!

            Bonnie

I got dh to make a spreadsheet for me so I can graph my running pace. I'm terribly slow right now, but I know that I'll improve as my fitness level improves. After doing the pumpkin run (5K) in October, I ran once in Nov. and once in Dec. So, after inputting numbers into the spreadsheet, and working out M-F all this month, my 3 mile time is 30 seconds faster than it was in October... and within range of not being completely extra embarrassingly pitifully slow.

Now I'm checking out the race calendar. I really don't want to run outdoors in this weather, but there is a Valentine's day 'truffle shuffle' with chocolate at the finish line. Believe me, this is creating quite a dilemma for me. Cold? Chocolate? Cold? Chocolate? What to do? Of course, it could be warm 3 weeks from now, right? I mean, its going to be 2 degrees tomorrow night, but that doesn't really mean it won't be warm in February, right?

                I'm down 2lbs for a total of 4...m

It's really 6, but I'm not counting 2 because they were really lots of sodium the night before!

I am absolutely loving Sparkpeople. I feel like I am really watching what I eat in moderation and not really denying myself a whole lot!

And it's keeping me on track for my strength training and completing my goal for 1000 miles this year.

When I could only read the first few words of your post,

I thought it was going to say "I got dh to make.....a bet."

                  :-)

As for the shuffle... just do it. You'll be soooooo glad you did.

You're the backbone here. So even if you're not

motivated, you're motivating. So thank you.

Here's to another sunny day -- to enjoy!

                        Late July?

Is that when your birthday is? Seventeen weeks and a major mile stone. I will be watching you...and walking with you.

What is the actual date? We can do a countdown. It'll be fun. And motivate us all...
