  • Weekly Check In - Pre-Thanksgiving Edition!!

Good WI on Friday, down 1.2. Usually on weekends we eat out more and I'm less likely to make the best choices, but that's how I work the program, enjoy the weekend and eat more cleanly during the week. However, w/ Thanksgiving this week I tried really hard to cook more at home and when we did eat out, tried to make the best choices, in order to save up my extra points for Thanksgiving.

The bummer is, Fridays are my WI days, so even if I make good choices, I'm still likely to see a gain at WI Friday morning - not much I can do about that, except to realize that Thanksgiving is just 1 day, not a week long reason to eat like crap :-)

I plan on having a little bit of everything, including desserts. The trick will be to keep my wine consumption on the low end ;-)

    What's your plan this week?

You have to enjoy yourself, or you won't be successful long-term. We go to my ILs' for Thanksgiving and I don't enjoy their cooking, so I should be okay. I tend not to eat much. My issue this week will be that I promised to make a few dozen chocolate chip cookies for an event on Thursday and I will thoroughly enjoy the dessert I'm making on Thursday. BIL invited us out to eat on Wednesday night, but I'm not sure if he meant all of us or just the kids. I'm going to try and skip it.

Oh yes, definitely agree that you have to enjoy life and it's little treats, that's how I'm finding this weight loss journey to be actually working! Usually we go to my MIL's house and her turkey is the worst! As well as all the sides, so I tend to over indulge in the pre-dinner goodies and the pasta. This year my B/SIL are cooking and they are good cooks :-) I'm in charge of bringing a salad/antipasta, so at least I know there will be that that I can fill up on and still enjoy some of the traditional fare.

Enjoy your holiday! And yes, Wednesday night we've been invited to my other B/SIL's house for a "happy hour", I think we're going to skip that, we'll be seeing them on Thanksgiving, so I don't feel the need to go out on one of the rowdiest nights of the year. We'll stay home, watch a movie and relax :-)

What are you making? I love dessert.

DH LOVES trifle. He was shooting for a brownie or berry trifle, but I convinced him to let me make pumpkin trifle. I haven't made it in a couple of years, but it is really good.

Hi girls! I was down 1.6 for a total of 21.4. You are all doing great - kd, hope you are back to 100% soon! JJ, awesome loss this week and love your reality-based approach to week vs. weekend. Jeannie - good job with swimming, you are doing great!

            Good luck with Thanksgiving, everyone!

Nice reports Ladies! I'm with JJ on this one - it isn't the food consumption on T-day I need to watch, it's the wine. ;oP

I'm down 1 pound this week - total is 70.8 down. Woot!!

I broke down and went to the ER for my suspected gallstone/gallbladder issue. I had another attack and really just had enough of feeling like crapola. Anyway, gallstones are the diagnosis and I have an appt with a surgeon this afternoon to schedule the removal of the ol' gallbladder. Honestly, I'm relieved that a fix is in sight and that it is gallstones. Not sure when the surgery will be, as I'm leaving town tonight to drive to my mom's place (8 hr drive) and to help mom cook the T-day feast for 24 guests (really, I'm the head cook now and mom is the oversight committee). I'm guessing Monday will be surgery day, so I just need to make it til then. I'm trying to eat only small amounts frequently throughout the day to avoid another gallbladder attack and that will probably keep a weight gain in check this week.

Despite how crappy I feel, especially after I put something in my mouth, I've been staying the course with my running. I ran 4 out of 7 days this week and I'm still very
very slowly upping my miles and speed. I'm hoping my pending surgery doesn't impact my running plan too much. I wonder how long I'll have to stay out of action. Do you think just a few days?

Happy Thanksgiving to you all! Enjoy!

Making? Isn't that what bakeries are for?

Okay, I am only half kidding. I will make a peach cobbler. But I'll leave the pie making to the professionals. I live around the corner from the best bakery on the planet. That's not an exaggeration. There was a poll. ;-)

I would get disowned by my mother if I bought anything!

I just finished making my chocolate chip cookies. I ate one. I packed up the rest. I am dropping off my offering tonight to get it out of the house and left just a few for the kids. I am strong. I can do this.

                  I LOVE peach cobbler, BTW.

P.S. Just as I was typing this, she called and I told her what I said and she said that in fact I am correct, she would disown me. LOL!
