  • Weekly check in...

    Good morning all!

I was down 5.4lbs. at Friday's WI - 3 of that was the 3lbs of bloat I had the day after Thanksgiving, but the other 2.4 was me being on plan the week before and week after Thanksgiving. That brings me to 45 lbs. lost since the end of January :-) I'm about 4 lbs. from the first goal weight I wanted to reach, so this week at WWs I'll be setting my final goal weight, which I think will be 145 lbs. - this would result in a total loss of 53.8 lbs... :-)

Of course WWs went and changed up their plan a little - no changes in points values of foods, but if you were at the lowest point range, which I was, it dropped my points by 3, so where I was eating 29 points per day, I now get 26. You can choose to over-ride that if you want, and I was losing at 29 points, so I thought about it. Then I looked over what I've been eating, and at the end of most days I am 1 or 2 points under, so I end up eating a piece of chocolate or 2. Not bad, but not necessary. WWs gives you weekly points for indulgences, etc., I'm thinking I need to start using those for my sweet treats during the week -that way I know I'll be eating them because I want it, not just to fill in the points at the end of the day.

We'll see how I do this week. Over the weekend I tried to stay w/in my 26 points, but we went out to eat Friday night, Saturday we had pizza and yesterday we had a bday party for my great-nephew - I didn't go way over, so that's good.

    Have a great week all!

kd - hope you're feeling better.
Kim - hope you had a great time shopping, that must be an awesome feeling to go shopping now, so many more choices, right? :-)
Augie - you're doing fantastic, keep up that good work!
Laura - better late than never on the check in ;-) Congrats on the 1st 10 gone for good!! Any questions about the change in the WW program, let me know, I was at my weekly meeting Friday and we learned a little about it, will learn more this week and online they have a pretty good walk through about the changes.

I am up 1.5 lbs today from last week. However, 1.25 lbs of it is since yesterday morning! I'm probably just bloated, so I'm not stressing about it.

I am feeling much better. My problem now seems to be getting back on track. Exercising no longer feels like a habit and the end of the day comes and I realize that I've done nothing. This time of year is not helping. Yesterday, I went to the gym and rode the bike for 20 minutes. I felt perfectly fine afterwards. I think I can go back tonight, so I'm going to shoot for longer and see how that goes.

Good job, JJ - awesome! You are getting really close . What do you think of the changes to WW? I haven't had a chance to fully absorb them. My daily points are still in the 30s, so I don't think it affected me. The updated website sure looks good. Since I'm online only, I'm curious what your leader said about it.

Glad you're feeling better, kd, and getting back into the swing of things.

I was down 1.8, so the 0.6 from Thanksgiving is gone plus a little more. I got some new jeans to help transition till I'm closer to my goal. They feel awesome and suddenly everyone is noticing .

I lost my Thanksgiving gain and then some... so I'm happy!

Total down is 71.2. I've been a running machine this week in preparation for my pending gallbladder surgery (finally scheduled for this Thursday). I figure I will be out of commission/exercise for a few days with that (hopefully not more than 3 or 4 - am I being too optimistic?) so am making sure I get in a run and some walks every day until Thursday. My legs are killing me!

Anywho, I survived THREE Christmas parties this weekend and still lost, so I'm patting myself on the back for staying on plan despite some insanely magnificent treats for the taking. (My DH's holiday party had a full dinner at a fancy hotel - steak, salmon, fettucine alfredo, garlic whipped mash potatos, etc. , complete with every dessert pastry you can imagine, and open bar. Oh my... it was a toughie to get through! Especially because it was boring as all get out and my past MO would have been to at least get in some good eats to make up for an evening of small talk with people I won't see again until next year - same time, same place.) I bought a new glittery outfit with peek-a-boo black patent pumps...and black pants 6 sizes down from last year!!!! It was fun to get dressed up and feel pretty good about how I looked. :o)

I got a lot of compliments from folks I haven't seen for many months at the parties this weekend. So that was good. But honestly, I had SEVERAL people ask me "wow, how much have you lost?" Is it me, or is that just not something you should ever ask anyone? Also I got asked "how did you do it?" This question doesn't really seem inappropriate, but seems like it has an obvious answer. Or maybe they mean "what diet did you use - like Atkins, WW, gastric by-pass, etc." I don't know. I always respond to this one with "eat healthy, limit calories, and exercise". I never know how to answer the "how much have you lost" question -- I usually mumble something like "a lot" and change the subject. I mean, really, no need to go there.

JJ - you are this week's rock star. WOW! WTG!
Augie - You are melting. ;o)
kd - hope you get your exercise mojo back. Sometimes I really have to push myself out the door, too.

Oh Kim, I bet you looked so great at that party! Too bad you don't have a nemesis to mete revenge upon by looking so awesome, haha (j/k!) You are so inspiring and something as simple as these weekly check-ins help so much.

Re: your GB surgery, I'm thinking you'll be out of commission for a little longer than 3-4 days. Actually, I think it may take several weeks to be back to the point of exercising/running as much as you are (maybe even a month or more). Your doc can tell you for sure. I would take it easy though, as it would be a bummer to have complications. I worry about needing the same surgery myself as I certainly fit the profile (4F's). I hope everything goes really well on Thursday (check in when you can).

Re: questions about the weight loss, well - I've just started getting a few questions myself and unless the person is one of my very good friends (who already know about my goals and what's up) I just cheerily say "hard work!" and if they push just say that dh and I are getting healthier (he's lost 25lb). I abhor prying questions (kind of along the lines of questions about IF issues) and try to always have a quick answer that discourages further interrogation.

Been scared to get on the scale since Thanksgiving. I was sooooo bad. But I did swim a mile this Sunday and the Sunday before. Now I have to figure out how to exercise during the week. Getting to the pool before work is just too hard. And I feel guilty about time away from my kids if I go after work. I need a good home workout that won't kill my knees.

Congrats to everyone for doing so great over the holiday and on all your pounds lost. It's very inspiring!
