  • Weekly check in 4-30-12

    Hi All,

Sorry I've been so silent. I was away and then my Dad took sick and died, and it's been a big mess. I believe I was down about 23 lbs when I headed for FL in early April. I'm now down a total of 28, and although I know some is due to the "grief diet" I have also continued following WW. I have completely blown off counting points, but I'm going to get back to it.

I now weigh 141.5, and would like to get down in the 130s if possible. I keep inching my goal down, so now I've set it for 138. I believe I was 130 when I met DH 20 years ago, so it would be a kick to get close to that again.

Hope everyone else is doing well. Check in!

    Update

Pleaky - so sorry for your loss.

I've been MIA from this board as well. I do that when I'm way off plan, which I've been for about a month. No excuses - just eating whatever whenever and it is reflected on the scale and also in how I feel right now. bleh.

So here I am, back in the saddle. I had a heel injury that I think (hope!) is healed so am heading back on the trail to get back up to some running. With all this time off, though, I think I need to start back at walking each day and work my way up to my daily 3 to 6 mile runs. I'm trying to psyche myself up for it, but so far I'm having to push myself out the door. My DS graduates from HS in June, I want to look decent for that and need to get with the program big time.

      I'm sorry for your loss.

I'm hovering around the same weight. Not much has really changed. I feel like I need to pick up the pace a bit. I have a million excuses. I've had a few days where I was very hungry, my allergies have been bothering me, we've been busy. Blah, blah, blah.

Pleaky, again I'm so sorry for your family's loss - I hope you're doing well, and your Mom, too.

I'm so proud of your loss so far, you really are rocking the WW plan - go you!!

As for me, I last reported when I had a nearly 4lb. gain over spring break and that was 4 weeks in to my 6 week maintenance period with WWs. I think my body was so excited to have me have a big gain it's refusing to let go of it, despite me scaling back my eating - boo hoo! Since that 4lb. gain I've dropped 1/2 lb. and last week I stayed the same so at the end of 6 weeks of maintenance I was more than 2 lbs. over my WWs goal weight so I didn't achieve lifetime status - yet.

So now I hope I get there this week, but it's still not looking great - I'm well over 1 week late w/ AF (perimenopause!!) and feeling bloated and gross... blah!

        I keep plugging along...

First of all, thank you all for your kind thoughts about my Dad. I do miss him, but each day get more used to the idea that he is gone. I spent the weekend cleaning my house, which was a total mess after all the relatives left, and it felt theraputic to put things back in order.

Anyway, JJ, I wanted to comment on periomenopause. The last few years, my period came every 3.5 weeks, and I was CONSTANTLY bloated. It was so uncomfortable, and I felt that way every time I ate anything. I started WW in January, and coincidentally, my period stopped mid Jan. I haven't had one since (I'm 51). I don't think it has anything to do with WW, my only point is, maybe I was finally able to be more successful because I'm not dealing with endless PMS anymore. I feel SO MUCH better since my period ended, I am just praying it doesn't come back!

Just wanted to give you a little encouragement that I believe perio really does interfere with weight loss, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel!

            I'm down 11.5 total...

It has been very slow and steady for me because I am not dieting, counting calories, etc. We are eating a paleo diet with no gluten/wheat, dairy and soy. It has been fascinating for the changes our entire family is experiencing with our new lifestyle... Dh has lost 15 as well with this and my dd has really trimmed down. It has been so much fun experimenting w new ways of eating. I could go on and on but I won't bore you anymore
