  • traveling with complete placenta previa

I just had my 20wk u/s and they said I have a complete placenta previa. They'll recheck at 28wk, but the likelihood of it moving isn't great I guess. I have a business trip planned next week, via plane. What is your opinion on traveling away from home?

For asymptomatic previas at 20 weeks, no need for any activity modification in my opinion

    congrats, GL

I did have some brown spotting

I had spotting for 3 days, mostly brown. twice it had a "twinge" of red, but mostly brown. I think that's why my dr is suggestion is to not travel. I asked if I don't spot any more, would it be ok, and i think they said it would be. My DH is scared that I'll be stuck out of state if I start to bleed. Is it rare to start to bleed at 21 weeks? And lastly, what % would you give it for a complete previa to move? and if it moves, can I deliver at a later date than 36 weeks? Or do I still run the risk of bleeding? I'm scheduled for a c-section anyhow, because of 2 previous c-sections. Also, what % is the rate of accreta?

Likelihood for resolution dependent upon type of previa- central previas will not move, partial will tend to move away by term (overall 90% resolve)

H/O 2 prior c/d with previa increases you risk for accreta- again, likelihood depends on placental location- anterior (over scar) vs posterior away from scar

If placental resolves by term (without previa, accreta) deliver at 39 weeks would be the standard
