Giannoulias leads Kirk by seven

A new Research 2000/Daily Kos poll shows state Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias leading GOP Rep. Mark Kirk, by seven points, 43 percent to 36 percent. Giannoulias won a contested Democratic primary earlier this month against former Chicago Inspector General David Hoffman and Chicago Urban League President Cheryle Jackson. Kirk has been viewed as a strong Republican opponent and an early Rasmussen poll showed him with a single-digit lead.
