The National Organization of Women has called on New York Gov. David Paterson to resign, the AP reported Tuesday morning. The wire service reports NOW New York State President Marcia Pappas urged Paterson to give up his post following New York Times reports on his efforts to shield an aide, David Johnson, from charges of domestic violence. More from AP: "The group is highly influential in Democratic politics and has a record of strong support for Paterson and his efforts to combat domestic violence. She says that despite his excellent record on women's issues, it's time for him to step down."
