Retiring Democratic Sen. Evan Bayh, who's been sitting on $13 million in unused campaign funds, transferred a cool million of that total to the Indiana Democratic Party, describing it as a "vote of confidence" in Democratic Rep. Brad Ellsworth's campaign to succeed him. The Evansville Courier & Press reports: "... Dan Parker, Indiana Democratic Party chairman, said federal rules will allow the party to spend $850,000 of Bayh's $1 million contribution directly on Ellsworth's Senate campaign."
