New member- applying for scholarship

Lots of people in the March group did not get a confirmation email, sometimes the people in administration get busy and are not able to send a confirmation email to everybody. I know that a bunch of people just completed their fundraising so I think they are super swamped with matching those people up with doctors and incoming applications right now. Maybe give it another week and see if you get anything. Or try and contact others in your applicant group to see if they have heard anything (maybe start a new discussion thread?).

Do you know how many people actually got awarded scholarships from the March deadline? I was suppose to apply then but did not have the letter from my Dr. in time.

I don't know for sure the exact number of recipients from our group because not everyone posts in the forums. There are 10 that I know of but the total could be more than that.

thank you for all the info I have taken your advise and started a new thread for 2009 applicants. we will see how many actually join. But that was a great idea. I am anxiously waiting. Although I am encouraged by all the information I have been given the timelines do not seem to have been that bad.

Have you completed your fundraising already? When you start are you notified of donations so you can keep track of where you are with it?

Yes I have completed my fundraising already You receive a report on the 10th of each month that lists who donated and how much.

Thank you so much for your detailed answer. My computer has been acting up so I am just now able to read and respond. One other quick question if you don't mind; from what I understand, everybody that is applying for the scholarship had to make at least one post in a forum, shouldn't we be able to get a general idea of how many people applied by looking at the forums?

Hi Jennie,

Yes one of the application requirements is that you make at least one post in the forums. So you could definitely try and find applicants that way. Anyone can post in any forum, but you can probably get a good sense this way. You can also look at the members list link, you can sort by join date and then if you click on a name and look under their statistics tab you will find a link to their posts.

i do not have access to that function for some reason I do not have access to any of the administrative options for my login. I tried to look through the postings but there are so many new members can post in any of them it is hard to find it that way. But I did start a thread for the June 2009 applicants as well.
