  • Some advice about FET

Don't know if any of you on this board have done a FET. In 2007 we did a fresh cycle which gave us twin boys ( after our first IVF cyle failed). We had 8 embryos frozen. We are ready to try again and wondering how many embryos to transfer. MD says 2. I really want to have another but not really twins again as my pregnancy was rough and was on bedrest pretty much the whole time with them born 6 weeks early anyway. Any advice on FET and how many sound rightto transfer? MD said he has only had one case where both embryos took in a FET. Any advice would be great. Thanks!!

    HI Child ment

    HI,

I am in the same boat as you. We did a cycle in 07 and had twins (God bless). We are trying again and I am only transferring one. My twins were frozen as well and they both took. I would say go with your gut. I am going on MY history and with me it seems that once they are in me they stick. (Good or bad.) I can't say I'm not nervous I'm going through all of this and risking only putting 1 in but I feel I have a good chance at having twins again. Good Luck.

      Hi FET Ladies! (success mentioned)

      Hi -

We transferred 2 for our last FET and ended up with 1 child. Our doctor is referring us to do 2 again (and I'm honestly thinking all 3 we have left would not be bad for us). But I think a lot depends on your situation and on your previous successes.

Are you guys in the process now? My Day 1 for the FET was Sunday, so we're moving right along. I'd love some cycle buddies!

        Hi

        Hi,

Yes, I am transferring on Nov 3. We have 8 totsicles too. I am a little nervous as they had to raise my estrogen shot because my e2 level was low. I go for my lining check on Oct 29 and am afraid it;s not gonna be thick enough. I hate feeling so out of control of things. Where do u all live??

          Hi,
I am new to this site and a little challenged on the computer so please forgive me if this is not the right place to respond. I will be doing an FET cycle in Dec.(most likely I will start cycle on the 13th.) I did a fresh cycle (my first) in Oct. and it didn't work. We were so surprised, and disappointed. Besides side effects from the meds and overstimulating my cycle went well (according to the docs anyways) Doc said I had a 80% plust chance of it working, and she was thinking twins. The good news is that we have 7 embryos frozen and we can try again. My doc has great sucess with FET cycles but I just cant seem to shake the negativity. I was so positive it would work the first time and now I just cant shake the feeling that It wont work the second, (or ever) I'm not trying to be dramatic I know from reading that there are lots of women out there that have been through so much more than me. I'm just looking for a cycle buddie, and maybe some encouraging words.
          Thanks,
          Sienna

            Barge. (pg and kids ment)

Both of my children are FETs. I had a "perfect" IVF cycle that failed. Everyone was stunned. From that stunning loss came the frozen embies that are now DD, age 9 and DS, age 6.

FETs DO work. When all was said and done, they were the only thing that worked for me!

Sorry for the barge, but I happened to notice the post title when rolling down the screen. I just wanted all of you to know that when you are tired, weary, hurting, and negative a miracle can happen.

Good luck to all of you.

            Melanie

              Melanie,
Thank you for your reply. Everyone was "stunned" with my cycle also. The docs, acupuncture, and of course me. I'm so happy to hear of your success. I am trying to stay positive but the let down is so tough. I dont think I was really prepared for how difficult the whole process would be. Physically, mentally, financially, and emotionally. I guess like many things in life you cant really prepare for it, its just something you have to go through to truly understand. I know when it works it is all worth it. After all this is a last resort for most. We are hoping and praying that the FET cycle is sucessful for us also. We live in Ca. and our insurance doesn't cover infertility, much less IVF. We have already spent over 17,000 and will need to come up with another 4,000 for our FET. We don't have much and are using all that we have. Please keep a good thought for us. There is no grandchildren in the family (his or mine) we would be thrilled to tell our parents they will be grandparents this time next year. I will be thinking of your success and praying for the same for myself and all the others going through this very challenging process.

              Thanks again,
              Sienna
