  • god is with us

    Hi everybody,
My name is Tenema and my husband and I have been trying to concieve for three years. I have been diagnosed with having blocked tubes, making it impossible to concieve on my own, but scripture says that I am not alone and nothing is impossible with god. I would like to shed a glimmer of light by saying you are not alone either. God bless

            question?

Hello, and thank you for your response. God bless you. We hope you had a good new year. Would you have happened to have heard anything about how getting picked for the I.V.F program works? Just wondering. Or maybe when we find out who was picked?

            Thank you again.

When did you apply? As far as I know, there's a panel with doctors and other folks who read over everyone's things and make the decision. It can take a few months before you hear anything, especially with the holidays. It sounds like some people receive a phone call, like we did, and others receive an email. The waiting is always the hardest part! Hang in there and good luck!!

                selection

Yes there is a panel that looks at the applications on a case by case basis. I can only assume that they look at age and your particular case. For example for me it was medically necessary and proven by my records as my tubes were removed over 4 years ago so wityhout IVF I would NEVER be able to conceive. Those types I am almost sure are given. the wait is the longest and hardest to give you an idea I applied for the 6/25/09 deadline and received an email on 10/22/09 so it was about 4 months. With the holidays back to back right now I would say you have a couple of more months to wait. Just be patient. What is your individual case?

I too have been trying to conceive for three years and have 1 blocked tube. I just had a Dr. appointment today and she told me that I should start thinking about IVF. I am looking into the scholarship as well. I am interested in everyones experience with the process.

In my case, it was severe male factor. I don't think that the reason for infertility matters quite as much as needing IVF because it's your only hope of getting pregnant. Depending on the circumstances, age may not be a big issue either. I think that they try to take as many people as they can - which is a great thing for all of us!

As for aesnider's inquiry, I think that INCIID is awesome! It provides a lot of people with hope that they wouldn't have otherwise. They do their best to match you with a clinic who can best handle each individual's "issues." Sometimes that requires travel, but not always. Once you apply, the hardest part is waiting to hear if you're accepted. Once you know that, you get busy with the fundraising - something that I personally enjoyed. After that's done, you wait again until you get matched with a clinic. It really is very easy, with waiting being the hardest part. Personally, I definitely think that you should apply. What do you have to loose? This isn't a hoax or a group that will only pretend to care. If you look at the various dicussion boards, you'll see lots of couples who are pregnant or had children thanks to the scholarship program. I think their stories will tell you how good their experience was. In fact, Tina just had twins last month! If accepted, INCIID can provide you with valuable information, a great support system, and a real opportunity to make your dreams for a family come true. I hope that answers yours question and eases any concerns you might have.....

Thanks Carlaliz, that is helpful. I know how waiting can feel, so I figured I have waited this long, why not.

I am new to these forums, so it's nice to have people to talk to that can understand. I'm sure most of of you can relate how it feels to watch everyone around you get pregnant so easily, it's so frustrating. I have a small group of friends and all of them have children. It's hard hanging out with them, because it seems I have nothing in common with them anymore. They do their best and ask me how I am coming along, but I don't want to tell them, because it's like they just feel sorry for me. My husband does a great job at keeping me sane, which makes me love him more.
Okay, well thanks for letting me rant. It feels good to do that sometimes.

I completely understand how you feel! Empathy is one thing, but I don't want anyone feeling sorry for me. I had to cut out going to baby showers for a few months because it was just too much. Buying the gift was hard enough. I teach and I notice all the kids whose parents never come to anything, who never work with their kids or spend time with them. In some cases, they barely even feed them or treat them well. Yet, they have tons of kids without even thinking about it. It just doesn't seem fair. It's good that you have such a supportive husband. I feel blessed for mine too. I've heard that infertility can really take a huge toll on a marriage. Infertility stinks, but as least we know that we can weather the storm. Keep me posted on how the application process is going - and feel free to vent anytime!

I would have to agree.......I convinced myself not to apply for the March deadline because my husband and I were not married at the time and just knew for sure that I would not get it because of that.......I waited and said what the heck in June we applied and received the scholarship in October I have since completed my fundraising (unofficially because of the holidays we were waiting for the last deposits to be confirmed before we can actually report that we have completed it) and am anxiously waiting for the next step.

This is definately not a hoax and you have nothing to lose by applying right? We are all here for support during this process and the stories you will read on here both good and bad give you a much better understanding of just how many people are going throught the same thing.

yes indeed it can...it broke up my first marriage because I was so young when I found of my issues and the depression I went through just tore up apart. now I ahve dealt with this for over 13 years so I have learned to deal with it without allowing it to destoy my relationships with friends and family.

I'm sorry to hear that because I'm sure that it was a very difficult time. I hope that your story is able to end on a very happy note with a successful cycle!
