  • I am New

    Hi Everyone,

I thought that I could handle this infertility issues on my own. I have been carrying this burden for the last 11 years ago. I was diagnosed with Pituitary Acromegaly before I turned 20 years old, and I was told that my chances of getting pregnant was slim to none. I was not even thinking about having chilren, but to have that right taken away from you is a phenomenal loss of your womanhood. I am now 31 yrs old, married for my 3rd time, and still without child. It was too hard for my first husband, so we were divorced. My second husband and I went thorugh an IUI, but the end result was a negative pregnancy test. Now I am with my third husband and we tried IUI last Spring, and still no pregnancy. We are considering IVF later on this year, but I need to relax. How do you relax, when it is so stressful.

Welcome! It's always nice to see new folks on the boards.

Due to sever male factor, my husband and I tried IUI's about 5 times, with no success, before giving up and trying IVF. Both times it worked, but ended in unexplained miscarriages. We've had every test imaginable done and all show that things are normal. That leads me to be even more convinced that it was stress related. I've been doing some research and have read quite a bit about how stress can have a negative impact on pregnancy. That's only convinced me further that the stress of infertility combined with us moving, changing jobs, and dealing with family deaths all had a negative impact. Therefore, I completely understand your concerns about stress - I have the same ones. I've been trying a natural herbal supplament that helps with anxiety as well as therapy, acupuncture, yoga, and listening to classical or relaxing music. Personally, I think that I feel less stressed overall. However, once we start our next IVF cycle, that could change. We applied for, and received (thank God!), a scholarship from INCIID last year. At this point, we're waiting to hear that we're "officially" matched with a clinic. I think that some of the stress that I still feel is my anxiety to start our cycle - especially after this last birthday in Jan. I plan to do everything I can to stay calm and positive during and after the cycle and hope that it will do the trick. If you, or anyone else, comes up with some other ways to relax, I'd LOVE to hear them! Until then, welcome and good luck with your application! I hope to hear that you've been accepted soon!
