    On day 3 of Lupron

    Hi everyone,

I'm new to the message board thing, so we'll see if I can figure it out!
I just started the long Lupron, 10 units on the 7th.
I've never been pregnant and due to tubal issues IVF was my only option.
I am 34, and my husband and I will be married for 1 year in December!

Been reading alot of message boards of women who've gone through the whole IVF thing, and it's making me nervous! So many details, makes my head spin!

      welcome Bethany.....

I will start my first IVF this month I start BCP then fly to Dallas end of october for my calendar and instructions with monitoring beginning Nov 29th. I too am nervous but the most important thing is to relax and just let it happen. I have beendoing accupuncture to help me relax. Unfortunately my thyroid test came back high so I am hving to re do that test not sure what the Dr will do about that if it is not lower???

there are several of us on here going through a cycle this and next month.

Good to "see" you. Sounds like a few of you are getting ready to start but no one is cycling right now with me. I hope you'll stick around for me! I'm starting my first decapeptyl (lupron) shot tonight. I went to the clinic this morning to get everything started and I was supposed to have an u/s and bloodtest. The nurse found a vein first prick (not so easy with me) but my blood flowed soooooo slowly, it only filled the tube and didn't make it to the vial. In the end she decided that I could start without the bloodtest if the u/s looked okay (which it did - lining nice and thin.) So I'm not really looking forward to this whole ordeal again if each bloodtest is going to be so darn hard!

Anyway, excited and nervous and worried and a whole bunch of other emotions about being back here again...but here I am! Hope I survive in one piece. :-)

            Lupron day 5!

            Thanks Leslie!

Good luck on your trip down to Texas and with your Thyroid issue. I certainly hope it does not interfere with your treatment too much.

I didn't go on BCP, we just went straight to Lupron. We will be doing the first ultrasound around the 16th of this month, and if all goes well, retrieval will be on the 26th of this month.

              Lupron day 7

So, I've been on 10 units of Lupron daily now, noticing alot of bruising at the injection sites. I've been injecting in my stomach. Anyone else getting bruising? Have you found ways to avoid this?

Hi Bethany! I've found that two things seem to help with the stomach shots, these are just personal experience. One is making sure it goes straight in (needle perpendicular to the skin) and avoid going in at an angle off to the side. The other is to put pressure on the injection site with a gauze pad for a minute after the injection. I found that toward the end of the injection part of the cycle it was hard not to get some bruising due to running out of places to poke. Good luck to you!! I'll be starting my shots next month.

                  Hi Bethany,

I've done four lupron shots so far, tonight will be my fifth. I only have one tiny little bruise in one area right now but I remember on my first cycle many years ago (this is my third) my whole stomach was one big bruise! Not sure how I am doing it differently this time. Are you sure that you are going straight in and not kind of hesitating with the tip against your skin?

So I am just a few days behind you in the cycle. When are you starting your stims? They have me on lupron for two weeks before I even go back to the clinic. I started on the 10th and I go back on the 24th. I'm guessing that I'll start stims then.

                  Good luck!
