  • Flu shot and TTC

I don't think the flu is available here (in Israel) yet but it should be in a week or so. I should be the stimming stage of the cycle by the time it is available. Should I get the shot while TTC? I will ask at the clinic as well but I was wondering if any of you have asked your doctors...

Hi Levana, my clinic said it was ok to get a flu shot at any time. But definitely ask your clinic about your specific situation. I actually just went to get my flu shot last Thursday A problem we have here in California right now is whooping cough, I got an email from my doctor's office yesterday that women of childbearing age should be vaccinated so I will have to ask my clinic about that one.

I've always heard to do it...

Last year at this time, it was the H1N1 epidemic and our clinic specifically asked if I had yet. I hadn't and they told me to go immediately and get it done. But I would always check with the clinic...that's why they get paid the big bucks!

      How is everything going?

          Quick update from me...

I'm ok. Starting our last IUI cycle...well, they said they would do one more, but I think 4 is enough banging our heads against the wall. This time we're doing Femara (which makes me loopy) and Menopur on the 3 days following (which makes me a total unrational b*tch). So far, I guess the good news is that I'm just loopy. Maybe we'll get more than 1 egg this time.

How are you doing Annette? Getting ready to start or are you already in the game? Which drugs are you/will you be taking?

Levana - What did your RE say about the flu shot? How are you doing?

            Hey Patti,

Good to hear from you. I hope this cycle actually surprises you with good news! Good luck!

I haven't asked the doc yet about the flu shot -- I go to the clinic on Sunday after being on Lupron for two weeks. Hopefully will be starting stims then.

I have never been on the Femara/Menopur regimen, when will you start the monitoring part of the process?

I am still on BCP's. This time my body is having an unfavorable reaction to them for some reason. Spotting and cramping every day since a few days after I started on them and I am now on week 4, not breaking for inactive pills. I am scheduled to start Lupron on Nov. 11th. The other meds will be Luveris and Gonal-F in addition to other random ones.

Sorry for my delayed response...so tired!

                Hi -

Oh, Annette, I'm so sorry that the BCP aren't going well. Ugh. Well, I hope everything else just falls into place. I've been on Gonal-F before, but I had that with Menopur before. I hope things start going better for you!!!!

Sorry for my very delayed response, I've been napping in my downtime. I am so tired. Well, last Monday-Friday I did the Femara and then Sat - today is the Menopur. Tomorrow, I go in for an u/s and get the trigger shot and then Wed and Thurs should be the next inseminations. I'm having bad pain in my back and some residual pain on my ovaries, but other than that, I'm doing ok. I'm so negative, since this is #4, but my dh and I agreed to do this. Just waiting it out and hoping to be surprised...but just not feeling it.

                  Hi Patti!

I think Menopur is probably the equivalent to Luveris. I'm looking forward to the injections on Nov. 11th so that hopefully this sporadic bleeding will stop, I really don't know what to expect from one day to the next.

Looking forward to hearing how things go for you this week!! Take care and take it easy
