  • Fertilization report

I spoke with a nurse at the clinic and she said that of the nine eggs retrieved, seven were mature and as of now, four are embryos. I'm pleased with that as we'll only transfer one or two so we'll have at least two to freeze. And I hoping the remaining three will still fertilize. My transfer is scheduled for Wednesday morning and then the beta will be two weeks after that.

I'm feeling positive! And also proud of myself for getting through the hardest part (retrieval) really well.

    Sounds great!!!!!

It sounds like things are going great. The ER is the reason that we're on the fence about doing the whole thing again, so it's really great to hear that it went so well for you. Yay!

    Keep growing little embies!!!

Hey Patti, stop thinking like that! Hopefully you won't even have to consider doing this all over again.

But what about the ER? Did you end up in emergency during your IVF cycle? Or did you mean OR? Or does it mean something else entirely different?

        I know, but I'm such a realist.

This is the 5th procedure we've done in less than 3 years. I would rather be wrong than disappointed. You know?

The ER=egg retrieval. I was so engorged and miserable. I ended with 22 eggs and my ovaries were touching each other. Lovely, huh? I couldn't move afterwards, and then I couldn't move for the 5 days after the transfer...I was just miserable.

So, that's why I was happy to hear that your ER went really well and that you're feeling decent now.

Ahhh, I feel stupid now. I should have understood that. :-)

I can't imagine how you were feeling after 22 eggs. I felt bloated and engorged enough just with my few. That really sounds like a bad experience, like you were hyperstimulated. Sorry you had to go through that. :-( I'd be really reluctant to try again after that experience as well. But I guess you can make sure that they lower your meds to try to make sure you don't make as many eggs if you do end up needing to do it again.

Yeah you totally shouldn't be in that much pain after a retrieval, lower meds dose should help with that.
