Annette - how was your follow-up?

Thanks Patty In our follow up call the doctor said he thinks it is a sperm quality issue because my egg quality and response to meds is good despite the PCOS. He first suggested donor sperm and then said that it doesn't mean that we can't be successful on our own though. I highly doubt we will ever use donor sperm so right now we don't really have a plan per se, besides getting a second opinion. It doesn't help that I just found out yesterday that one of my friends is pregnant with baby #4. What can you do, keep your chin up and carry on I suppose. I don't know if it's because we just finished a cycle or talking with the doctor or what, but I just don't have a lot of confidence anymore and I'm very skeptical and I don't know how to get past those feelings.

When are you starting your cycle?

I'm sorry....and I'm betting he said he thinks and has no answers for sure. This is so unfair. And yep - why is it that everyone announces babies to come at the beginning of the new year??? I've learned of 3 this week. It is just unfair, I don't know what else to say.

I've been spending way too much not so quality time at the doctor's office getting ready for our IVF cycle. We have decided to do genetic testing since our previous odds were weird, so we're going to freeze all and then I'll do an FET in March...assuming all goes well. I start Lupron tomorrow and then I'll start stimming next Tuesday. I'm nervous and anxious and everything else you would expect, I guess. And just ready. (Aren't we all?)

Annette, (((HUGS))) to you whatever you decide. Getting a second opinion about the embryos seems to be a good idea. Doctors certainly don't know everything so maybe someone else would have different idea as to what went wrong.

Patti, good luck! Hope to hear great news about the cycle. Let us know how each stage goes. Hope you get a lot of embryos to freeze. I'll be doing my FET in February, hopefully, so just a little before you.

Thanks Levana, I will probably get a second opinion in a couple of months. I have nothing but time now while we figure out funding, so no hurry.

Hey Patti, one of the suggestions our doctor made was genetic testing. How did you make the decision to do that and what are they looking for in that type of testing?

Annette - funny you should ask...hard topic/decision

Hey Annette -

This was a really difficult topic to broach for us. We had to make that decision over Christmas, when we just happened to be in Ohio the whole time (we live in Colorado). Helpful, huh? Ugh.

I'll e-mail you separately about this because it was a sensitive topic for us and our decisions were really personal.
