  • 1 being transferred tomorrow

    HI all,

After weeks of IVF treatment my wife and I are left with 1 brave little embryo out of 6 retrieved eggs. We're a little down as this is the 2nd of our 3 treatments with Attain and the numbers were disappointing, but were trying to keep our heads up. I think we get hope just from the poetry of it all. The single brave soldier taking on years of disappointment. :D

Anyway, we would appreciate your prayers, crossed fingers, whatever you are comfortable giving.

    Thanks!

Interesting story! Maybe some of your prayers paid off... we'll have to wait and see. We are going to wait and do a day 5 transfer after all. We got all prepped for the transfer and then at the last minute our RE and us decided it was the wisest choice.

My wife has hyperstimulation. Her hemoglobin levels are good but she's got a lot of fluid which is causing all her pain. They're a little hesitant to do the transfer today in case it gets worse.

So she is going to go rest and pound the water and gatorade for the next two days to see if it improves. If it stays the same or gets better, we'll do the day 5 transfer as long as the little guy survives. If it gets worse we may have to freeze it and try again once her system calms down.

Not the most ideal way of getting to do a day-5 transfer but I think it gives us the best chances. If the embryo doesn't survive in the blastocyst culture than it's quite possible it wouldn't have survived anyway. The RE said that the embryo was "Beautiful" though and it had already started compaction.

We're happy though, the thought of a single day 3 embryo transfer was making me sick to my stomach.

Day 5 transfer went very smooth on Friday. A healthy, top notch blast. Now we have 8 more days of waiting. :P We're allowing ourselves a little bit of hope at this point. Success rates are pretty good I know, but the luck we've had over the past 4 years leaves us dubious. This is certainly further than we've ever gotten before.

Yes miller we are from Indy.

                Thanks for all your thoughts!

A healthy top notch blast sounds great! I wish you the best of luck. Now I have someone to join me in this 2ww -- I hope there is a good news for both of us at the end!

At this point I'm about ready to go beyond hoping. Anybody want to join me in finding some live chickens to sacrifice?! :D At the very least, maybe a bucket of KFC.
