  • When the heck will my dd get her next period?!?!

My DD got her first period at 11y5m. Now, 7 months later, nothing. She has not had one single spotting episode let alone a real period since. Is this normal?

She is very active (dances about 11 hours a week and plays tennis about 2 hours a week). She is very thin and actually has lost about 7 pounds since she started her period (7 pounds that she DID NOT need to lose, and she didn't do it on purpose it just happened over a few months time).

Wondering if this is perfectly normal or if I should ask her pediatrician.

Low body fat will prevent ovulation, so no AF. My sister did this a lot. I think that's probably why I didn't start AF until I was 14 despite having body hair in 4th grade. My sister was 15. I remember drinking that Wate-On stuff in high school - apparently, it just took a really long time to work.. like 30 years! LOL!!

fwiw - I think it's also common for AF to be irregular at first. My 11y9m dd is not skinny at all (not fat either just well-proportioned at 5'4" & 105lb) and she hasn't had AF since early August. She has had AF only twice and those were 22 days apart, now on cd40+. She is making me nuts not keeping any supplies in her backpack or locker. I slipped some pads into her backpack last night, so AF will probably show today - she has dh's good luck.

Well I left a message with the DR

just to be sure. My DD is also 5'4" and at the beginning of summer was about 104 and now is 97. It's just all the excercise. She is constantly hungry! From morning till bedtime, LOL.

My dd's doc said a few pounds of body fat makes all the difference. My dd is 11.5, 5'3 and 70lbs so we have years according to the doc, despite the appearance of all the other puberty signs. I wish the hormons would have held off as well. LOL.

I hope it's nothing to worry about...

I personally notice a very strong correlation to my weight and my periods - meaning the thinner I am, the lighter they are and I recall them being over in literally 24 hours when I was young and skinny. They heavier I am, the heavier they are and it can be days long.

            I did call the Dr.

she said it is perfectly normal. I figured as much but I feel better knowing for sure.
