  • Does Anyone Know??????

Does anyone know if there is any research out there about children on the spectrum and other siblings having other disabilities such as ADHD.
I know that children with ASD's have a higher chance of having a sibling with an ASD, but what about ADHD, bipolar disorders or anything else?

    I don't know,but ADD, ADHD and even

bi-polar(I think) are all considered under the spectrum umbrella, I think. So, I would think chances are pretty good.

Bipolar has a very strong genetic component.

I think it is all mostly genetic stuff.

Funny, I am not bi-polar and dh is not bi-polar that we know of anyway... and dd may be. A few not direct relatives on both sides have various forms of bi-polar though.

Then again, dd is 4. She may not end up with bipolar according to the doc. SHe thinks she may grow out of this stage. that would be nice.

I think that if someone has anxiety, depression, bi-polar, adhd, add, autism spectrum, etc in the family --- each of these things are more likely. (the doc said this)

I am glad that the world is starting to see the brain as connected to the body....and these brain disorders are not "mental illness" anymore but a body illness like anything else. Well, it is not totally shameless yet, but I am hopeful!
