  • Eye appointment went great!

We ended up going back to the opthamologist we went to two years ago. Thankfully, they are now a provider under our insurance They were fantastic with Madylin. And I really did it up when they were out of the room about all the awesomely cool machines the doctor had there....maybe if she was super good the doctor would let her look through them, etc, etc. The only bad thing was that they had to put two sets of drops in her eyes, which resulted in murderous screaming But other than that, she did great!

Come to find out, she is not seeing out of one of her eyes. I could not believe it! They held up cards and had her cover each eye and see how far away she could see the pic on the card. The right eye, no problem. Left eye, she could only see about 10-12 inches in front of her face! The doctor said she is not even using that left eye to *see* at all. So, now she has to wear glasses and have weekly drops put into her good eye to make it a bit blurry so she will start *using* the bad eye. She picked out some glasses and we should have them in about a week. She SO did not want to give the frames back...she wanted to wear them home LOL! (I take that as a good sign, I HOPE!! Hopefully she'll wear them with no problems...)

So, I did shoot an email off to Walmart a few days ago and haven't heard from them yet. I figure I'll give them a week and email again if no one has responded. I really hate confrontations about stuff, but I am so not letting this one go!

Thanks for your input on my other post!!

Glad you were able to go back to the old eye dr.

Good luck with Wal-Mart, I would fire another email off, that was so wrong how they handled your info.

Well, wonders never cease....I got a call this morning from the head of all the Walmart vision centers! He apologized profusely for how we were treated and told me they would *make it right* with us. He was contacting the store that turned us away to find out who exactly was involved and said he would be contacting me again. He asked if we had been to get glasses somewhere else and I said *Of course....I wasn't taking her there (Walmart) after how we were treated on the phone!*. He assured me numerous times that it was unacceptable on the doctor's and associate's part, turning us away as a patient, and that it would be dealt with.

I am really happy that someone got back in touch with me. I hope that it IS taken care of and that it won't happen to someone else. I have a feeling that it WILL be dealt with, as I am sure that it would take little effort on my part to blow this up into an ugly situation for them (not that I would, I'm just saying...). I was very nice about it, and thanked him for the apologies. I know alot of places won't say *I'm sorry that this happened.....it was wrong* for fear of you using that against them (an admission of wrong-doing) if you decide to take the issue a whole lot further, KWIM? So I do look forward to hearing back from him again.

Thanks for your input on this....sometimes I know it's easy to get riled up about something just because it happened to YOUR child....I didn't think I was off the mark on this, but I still wanted to have some outside input! So thanks for that
