  • Grant partcipated in State Special Olympics in Tennis...

This was his first time and a wonderful experience via our county rec center that has a great program. Last year he was throwing his racket, and getting mad. This year he was cowering from the ball and looking at airplanes in April to winning a gold Everything was donated- the uniforms, food, tennis lessons. He played against mostly older males as it there is not many younger ones who played the short court game. Next year he definitely wants to do it again and also take part in a short summer tennis day camp.

    Two matches forget the scores-

Wow!! FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He won the gold!!

Well, I guess there's no living with him now??? lol! Great for him to have such a wonderful opportunity - and to succeed HUGELY!! : )

I can't believe how grown up he is!! Yikes!! It's been a while since I've "seen" him! It's going by so fast!

I think the special olympics is an amazing organization, my dad volunteered for the Bronx division years ago! I know one of the guys who delivers office supplies to my office participated a few years ago, he was so, so proud and wore his medal every day for weeks!

Proud joyous mama dance here on Grant's behalf!! XOX!! N

I have always hesitated having Grant participate in activities just for children with disabilities. But, over the years it what suits his abilities best. I held off on Special Olympics until this year when I knew he would truly appreciate the experience. The man on his right was so mad at losing to Grant. Later that night we ran into him and the man told Grant "you, I'm gonna beat you next year!

Love it!! I hope Grant starts practicing NOW, lol!! : ) Game on!

Dd teases me from time to time, and if she's trying to "work it" with me will say "Come on mom, you know I'm a special kid".. little stinker!!

Dd LOVES meeting people like her, she says she finds it very reassuring that there ARE other people like her out there. We all know the the beauty of BTDT!!

Congrats again, you've done a great job!! N

Congrats to Grant! I love this photo; you can totally see the competitors already thinking about next year, as the one guy said! Your description of how far he has come is priceless. Very proud of him, and his mom.
