Has anyone here bought diamond jewelry on ebay?

I am an ebayer but never have really spent more than 20 or 30 dollars with any one seller. I am now looking at buying a wedding band to match my wedding ring and my jeweler wants 300 dollars for the one I want plus another 100 to add a few REALLY small chips to the sides to make it match more.

So I was browing ebay but it makes me nervous to buy from there. I remember seeing some 20 20 show or something where they showed alot of the stuff being fake. Should I just buck up and pay the jeweler or has anyone here had any luck doing this?

THere are some ebay sellers with tons of good feedback so I would hope they are selling legit stuff!

DH bought my diamond earrings off of ebay. We had them checked

by our jeweler and he said that we got a great deal...and they were real. I'm not sure what recourse you'd have if they were not real. I guess you could check into that w/ebay. I love my earrings!

Well, I know that PayPal offers some buyer protection. I would buy from an eBayer with a *lot* of positive feedback, and I would actually read the notes on the negative feedback. When you receive the item, bring it to the jewelers and have it appraised. If it isn't real, you can pursue action via PayPal and eBay. But I'd think that someone selling fake stuff on eBay would get caught and quick.
