  • Any ideas how to remove stickers from wood furniture??

I'm trying to clean up a dresser and a table and these darn stickers are sticking! Any recommendations?

    Thanks!

      Try Mayonnaise

Granted, I'm guessing here BUT ...

You can use it mixed with cigarette ashes (yes, gross, I know) to remove water rings, so I am guessing that on it's own it would probably help to loosen the sticky stuff the way peanut butter works on in hair. I just don't think peanut butter is probably a great option for furniture.

Magic Eraser. Those things will take anything off. I personally have used them to take stickers off my wood coffee table.

          Try WD-40

I actually use this to clean my new bedroom set (cherry wood). You will get the stuff off in no time!

Mineral oil, some sort of furniture oil (m)

I think Liquid Gold makes a furniture oil in a bottle. Saturate the sticker and let it sit for a while then gently rub off with a cloth or plastic scrubby. Start with very getnle pressure and increase slowly. You don't want to use more pressure than needed. Also, don't use a spray polish for this method. The propellants in the spray may alter the finish.

I'm not sure about Goo Gone. I think of that as something to use on glass, plastic, marble. Not sure what other solvents are in there that might ruin a wood finish. If the bottle list only oils then that would be fine too.

Have you tried a hair dryer?

This is an old Hint from Heloise, I think. Point the hair dryer (hottest setting) at a corner of the sticker. Work it carefully off as the glue gets soft. Be patient, and it will come off in one piece. I do this for price tags stuck on gifts, but I can't say I've ever tried it on wood.

              Good luck!
