    They're both the same weight...

& feel the same way in my hand so that doesn't help me make a decision! I wanted something simple & elegant (our silver that we inherited from DH's grandmother is fairly ornate) that would last so I'm not looking to replace it anytime soon. The stuff I'm replacing is nearly 10 years old & I wouldn't be thinking about it except that I've noticed lately that I've lost 5 forks (out of 10) over the years. We hold onto stuff. Thanks for the advice!

The good thing is that they are essentially the same...

except for the bottoms so I've been able to do that & I can honestly say that they feel exactly the same. That helps, huh?

      Thanks!

        Another consideration...

Are the tines the same sharpness? The second one looks a little sharper in the pic. My parents have new flatware and eating salad is like trying to spear lettuce with a log. Also, the second one looks like it would be softer in the hand as the first one looks like it has edges...but I know you've said they feel the same.

        I vote for the second.

        Good luck.

I vote for the second. (m)

Both are attractive, but I prefer #2. I like things that are a little different, and this pattern would fit the bill for me. The finish seems different, the handles are different, and you described serving pieces that are different. All of this would appeal to me.

I also would consider my dinnerware pattern for this choice. Are there any shapes in your dinnerware pattern that might look better with one of the flatware patterns? My dinnerware is black with spirals placed around the rim. I'd probably choose #2 because it's curved and might look nicer with the spirals, whereas #1 is square.

First one is more interesting looking to me.

This one was bought at Sam's for $50.81 & is a service for 12 with 12 extra salad forks & 7 serving pieces (79 pcs. total)...

OR this one from Bed, Bath & Beyond that I got for $80 after a coupon & it's service for 12 with 5 serving pieces (65 pcs.)...

I think I like the looks of the 2nd one better but how can I justify passing up the better deal? Just looking for other's input. Thanks!

              It's a tough choice but....

This is likely something you'll live with for 10++ years, right? Is it worth it to spend the extra little bit with the cute stuff? Purchases like this I think are worth putting a little more into so you will still LOVE it 10 years from now.

Go with what you like best...

The price difference isn't huge. My personal preference is #1, but I won't be eating with you!

                  I have the first one

                  so, I like that better!

I didn't get it at Sams though, I got it at an outlet several years ago.

                    Buy the one you like!

You're going to be eating on it for a long time -- the difference in price is minimal.

                    Enjoy,

                    Amy
