  • Now that pantyhose are out, what is a white-legged girl to do?

I'm going to a wedding, I'm very white, and I don't tan. I've used the fake tan stuff, but I tend to look a little orangeish with it and it is hard to do the knees and ankles right. The wedding's in VA in June, so I'd rather not wear pantyhose if I can get away with it.

So, any suggestions? Better fake tanners? Better way to put it on? Anything less orange out there now? Or wear pantyhose, some new magical kind that is light and airy and doesn't roll down my butt?

    TIA,

    Traci

    Be pale.

    Be proud.

Channel Nicole Kidman and Gwyneth Paltrow. Think willowy and ethereal, not pasty. (Or at least that's what I do!)

I would try the fake tan thing again. I know there are some bad ones out there, but overall they seem to get better every year. Did you try one that was the lightest color? I'm not that pale, but I always use a light one because I think it looks more natural. Also, did you do multiple layers? I find that it takes a few times for it to even out in those rougher areas. Also, make sure you use a scrub or loofah in the shower before you put it on.

In my opinion, panty hose in June in VA just aren't a good idea- both for fashion and comfort!

for a very subtle color try some of the new moisturizers w/ built in subtle tanners. I've been using Jergens Natural Glow, I'll use it maybe 3 out of 7 days in a week and it gives my legs just a touch of color, not too orangey or fake looking.

Apply to your legs only, exfoliate first - esp. knees and ankles and when applying to your knees and ankles, apply very sparingly.

Wear that white with pride! White is the color of royalty, you know....

Seriously, as someone who thinks nylons are evil and inhumane, I never wear them. Ever. I have white legs too, and I just don't care...if someone doesn't like it, I figure there are the same amount who wouldn't like me IN nylons (or like my dress, or like my hair or whatever...) Don't sweat it (literally) and be proud and au natural!!!

Wear a long-flowy dress or skirt. That'll accomplish two things: it will cover your legs (not that I think they need covering) and you can wear flatter, read 'more comfortable' shoes.

HEE HEE! California joke here... I haven't worn pantyhose in many YEARS!

Anyway... I am pale, so I use the spray tan for occasions or I just let my white shine! Pale is healthier and "in" these days, imo. But, for a nice "glow," Neutrogena was rated one of the best tanners for pale women. Just make sure you exfolliate skin well before application, and apply sparingly.

It helps to wear something that flows nicely and goes down to mid-calf or so.

I have hear good things about those spray tanning places, so perhaps you could try one out now as a tester for June. See how it works to get a little nice glow.

moment and get sprayed all wrong! I wonder how much those cost? We probably have them out here somewhere, Newton maybe? But my dh will kill me if I spend too much on it.

First, hose are not out imo.

Second, going without is not about skin shade, but about the evenness of your skin tone. Is your skin blotchy? Then do not worry about them being pale.

Keep them moisturized and don't worry about skin color!

I wear short dresses and skirts all the time and it never evne occurred to me to think about the fact that my legs are white. The rest of me is pale so I figure my legs should go along.
