  • Shopping sites for black bridesmaid dresses???

I need your shopping wisdom. My sister is getting remaired in August - outdoors, in the evening but it will be warm (east of Temceula CA wine country for anyone who cares). It is 'low budget' as they can barely afford a wedding (why they aren't just getting married quietly and putting money into a really nice big party is beyond me but not my issue). My sister asked me to be matron of honor and is requesting BLACK with ice blue accents. No idea yet as to style. The flower girl dress she picked for my girls is simple (white) but formal. Her daughter (9) is the other 'bridesmaid' and has a dress similar to the flower girl dresses but BLACK (she wants bridesmaids and groomsmen in BLACK). She says it will 'look good on a grown up too' but I refuse to wear a taffeta or silk 'grown up' princess dress.

So any on-line sites for black bridesmaid type dresses that are not more than $100? Thanks! - Cindi

Try the sale page of J. Crew maybe. I love their dresses.

        What about

        the sale page at
        white house black market

I don't look good in black or white, so I have never shopped there, but a friend got her bridesmaid dresses their and they looked great!

My sister and SIL both used black dresses (m)

for their weddings, and I was in the bridal party both times. Each time I (and the other bridesmaids) bought nice black cocktail style dresses off the rack - one was bought at Banana Republic and the other was from Jacob. The wedding colours (burgandy for my sister's wedding and cobalt blue for SIL) were encorporated through satin wraps - easy and inexpensive to make if you work with a large fabric store because they can dye satin to the correct colour if they do not have it in stock. In both instances we managed to get dresses, satin wraps and shoes for about $150-$200.

One of the things that works well with a "black" bridesmaid dress is to let each bridesmaid choose any black dress they want. That's what we did for our wedding. We had some gals in floor-length, some in cocktail dresses, some sleeveless and some with cap sleeves. We got lots of compliments, and every bridesmaid picked a dress they truly wore again.

If you want, I could email you a photo.

                Overstock.com

I just bought a really expensive looking dress for $28 from Overstock.com. They have quite a few dresses to choose from & their shipping is cheap.

A friend of mine did this, and it was gorgeous. And you're right, each person gets a dress that really is right for them, and everyone's fit so nicely it looked incredible. I love it!
