  • Do outdoor lights need to match fixtures?

Do my outdoor lights need to match my nickel finish door knobs and locks?

The house is going to be green with cream trim and brown doors. Would it look odd for the lights to have a brown or antique bronze finish? Seems that's what most come in these days.

I think it would be fine to have brown.

      Ours don't

We have a brushed nickel doorhandle on the front door and a traditional gold-colored knob on the back door but our lights outside each door are antique bronze. It looks fine. In our case, all the outside lights are the same.

I don't know many that do...

In my old house, I had polished brass handles and on exterior doors and my light fixtures were painted a dark brown/gray that had a matte metallic finish to them. Looked pretty.

IN my new house, the exterior handles are like a brushed nickel type finish, the fixures are an aged dark metal.
