I flush, but only OBs. Never flushed an applicator.
When the packaging says "Flushable applicator," I always assumed that the tampon itself was also flushable.
However, I joined the ranks of the cup users awhile back and will never, ever go back, so its a moot point anyway. I just wish I'd gotten up the guts to try one years and years before, saving my plumbing that much more flushing.
This is the highest percentage of Diva Cup users I've ever seen....outside of Mothering.com.
LOL! I wish I had known about the Diva cup years ago. I have told so many women about it....and not one single woman I told about it had ever even heard of it. Too bad it's not advertised like pads and tampons are!
I tried it a few years ago and couldn't get it to work for me. It felt uncomfortable. I thought it should not be felt at all, since I can't feel a tampon at all.
I've always flushed tampons. They are supposed to be flushed, I think. The applicators are not supposed to be flushed nor are pads. And we don't have great plumbing here - but we've lived in this house for 12 years and have never had a problem because of tampons.
Me neither. I was almost shocked by the question . My mother must have put the fear of something in me, b/c I never considered this. We didn't have a septic system when I was growing up, but the upstairs toilet was very slow. So, maybe that was why.
Wrapper, applicator, tampon. The tampons I used were Tampax brand, so everything was "paper". I even flushed when on a septic system. Never had a problem w/messing up the plumbing either. I can't even imagine wrapping up a used tampon and putting it in the trash. Yuck!!!

I know! When I finally worked up the gumption to try it (it is kinda pricey if you decide its not for you!) I wanted to go around singing songs about it. Well, not really. But almost. And I really wish I'd just gotten one when I first read about them, 5-6 years ago.

True, but imagine all those tampons having to be filtered and cleaned out of the waste water before the water is returned to the rivers etc and used as drinking water... also kind of yuck! (although I'm sure there are equally other gross things that are processed out of the waste water!).
