  • Pork chops: what is your favorite recipe? (m)

I don't make these very often, but wanted to try something different for a change.

Something simple and basic that my kids would like.

Can be grilled, baked or pan fried.

    Thanks!!

    Two ideas

Generally, my family likes pork chops best when I simply bread them with seasoned bread crumbs and pan fry them. The secret to that is to not overcook them. Start them at a high temp for a short time on each side just to brown the outside a bit, then turn the burner way down and slow fry. As soon as they are not pink on the inside, they are done. If they are thick cut, you can slice them open like a pita and stuff with any bread stuffing such as Stove Top.

My other favorite, is to marinate them in Chef Mate Lime marinade (a seasoning packet that I mix with oil, oj, lime juice, and soy sauce) and grill them on the gas grill outside. Yum. Quick and easy.

I never know what to do with them. I buy the boneless ones, put 4 in a glass casserole dish, put bbq sauce on top and bake for about 20-25 minutes around 325-350 degrees. They stay very juicy that way. Sometimes I'll serve them on a bun (to make bbq pork sandwiches), but they are just as good without.

I buy very thin, boneless and I cook them on the George Foreman grill. DH and DSs douse them with BBQ sauce. I spread a thin layer of BBQ sauce on mine. Easy and quick.

Our favorite is when DH sprinkles them with Penzey's Pork Chop Seasoning and cooks them on the grill!

this is the kids and dh's favorite way:

              4 chops
              1 c. rice
1 packet of lipton onion soup mix (I get the organic version - can't remember the brand name)
              2c. water

brown the chops - then place all of the ingrediants in a baking dish and bake for an hour - I cover for the first 45 min and then uncover for the last bit.

Also, my kids will eat pork chops and spaghetti - I brown the chops and slice them into strips and then cook in sauce for a while and serve over spaghetti. Simple.

This is my favorite from Cooking Light

This recipe is so darned good it is like restaurant food. I've also substituted chicken for the pork and cooked the whole thing stovetop rather than putting it in the oven (haven't done the pork all stovetop...just chicken).

The favorite at my house is Moore's marinade (not nearly as salty as Dale's nasty stuff) for 15-30 minutes and then slap them on the grill. Use a timer - do not overcook them! Mmmmm... good!! Sometimes I back or bread them, but everyone prefers the simple grilled version.

                  Easy-peasy and yummy, too!

My DH's fave is peachy Dijon pork chops.

                    From Cooking Light's 5 Ingredients, 15 Minutes

4 4oz boneless pork loin chops (1/2" thick)
                    1/4 tsp salt
                    1/4 tsp pepper
                    cooking spray
                    1/2 c peach preserves
                    2 tbsp Dijon mustard
                    1 tbsp water

Trim fat from chops & sprinkle with salt & pepper. Coat a large non-stick skillet with cooking spray, place over medium-high heat until hot. Add chops to skillet, cook 1 minute on each side. Reduce heat to medium, cook 4-6 additional minutes on each side or until done. Remove chops, keep warm.

Add peach preserves, mustard and water to skillet, cook, stirring constantly for 2 minutes. Spoon over chops.

I serve with rice -- super quick and easy.

                    Kristin
