Just scored itouch's for both my ds's. What are the best apps? Would love some educational and fun ones. My boys are 12 and 7. Can't wait to load stuff for them.

The Kindle app

I read books on mine all the time w/ this - plus I love downloading wirelessly. Not sure if your young 'uns would be into it.

We've got iPads but I think these apps are also available for iTouches.

Ds likes We Rule, Doodle Hangman and uses a free flashcard app to learn his vocabulary words. He's also played and liked Angry Birds on his friend's iTouch.

I'm curious - how are you going to keep them from getting into things they shouldn't on the Internet? My almost 10yr old dd wants one desperately.

We just downloaded a couple of new ones on my iPhone for my 8 year old:

Cat Physics
Mathsters

Angry Birds is also a hit here!

Thanks - these are great to start with as for the

internet. We are planning that these will replace their DSs. The seem to play those when in the car on long road trips or at a siblings game. I guess I assumed the internet would likely not work at the soccer/football field or in the car. In the house we have a firewall so wouldn't we have to give them access?

Hmmm, I am going to have to think about that one a lot more. I wonder if there is a way to keep them from accessing the web at all.

My friend said that

you can turn off the access to the internet. She is planning on doing that for the Itouch she just bought for her two sons. I told her to figure it all out so that when I have to get one in March for DD's birthday she can help me.

Google it, I am sure you can.

I believe you can turn off internet access in the settings section. I'm not positive but I believe you can do this.
