  • Crayola factory in NJ for kids ages 9-3?

Hi all. I'm thinking of thNking my almost 9 yr old, 6 yr old, and 3 yr old to the crayola factory. We've never been there before. Is it fun? Good for their ages? What's the cost of admission? Is there enough stuff to do there for the whole day?

    Thanks, Iris

The only Crayola factory that I know of is actually in Easton, Pa, just over the border from NJ. I live in NJ, but only 10 minutes from Easton, so we've been there a few times. It is fun! My boys are 6 now and they love doing all the projects. They were probably 3 or so the first time we went and they had fun, but weren't into the projects so much. There is a toddler area that they loved and a "Chalk Walk" where kids can draw on the floor with sidewalk chalk. I think we had to drag them away from the chalk!

I don't see why a 9-year old wouldn't enjoy it, unless they are just not into art projects.

I think you can definitely spend a day there -- be sure to check out the Canal Museum, which is included in the admission to the Crayola Factory and is in the same building. There is a cool water table and some other neat exhibits.

I don't remember how much admission is -- maybe $10-12 each? It includes a few tokens that you can use to get crayons, markers or model magic.

There is a nice little ice cream shop in the alley behind the factory. I think it's called the Purple Cow.

    HTH.

    Have fun!

I took DS there last year, he was 8. It was good, though DS wasn't it to everything there, he does love creating art projects, but some of them weren't really holding his interest, but I'm sure your younger 2 would have a blast. DS liked painting with melted wax the best (I did, too!) and he really liked the canal museum and playing in the water feature there (basically building small canals and floating boats in it, not a get in and get wet thing). We also liked the Crayola store. We went on Good Friday so it was kind of crowded, but all in all it was a nice day trip for the 2 of us.

I took my girls there last year (6 and 7) they loved it. I think age 9-10 would probably be the oldest I would take there. There is the canal museum in the same building included in the ticket price. It is a little crowded, that was the only thing I wasn't crazy about. They say its crowded no matter what day you go. It was reasonably priced, but I can't remember exactly. It did take us almost the whole day to go thru it. We stayed overnight and went to a zoo nearby (30-45 min away) and that was great! I have to look up the name of it if you are interested.
