  • I have a song in my head

It won't go away. Almost as bad, maybe worse, is I don't know the name of it.

Ordinarily, I'd do a search on some of the lyrics to find the name. But I don't know the lyrics either. In my head, I can hear the singer, but I can't understand a word he's saying.

And I don't know the name of the band either, or I'd just find a site with its discography and listen to song clips until I figured it out.

This has been going on for two weeks.

Don't you wish you were me?

That seems really annoying. Good luck to you.

      well... (m)

are you setting fire to the rain? or is there a shiny fire burning on the dance floor? how do you feel about leo g caroll being over a barrel when tarantula took to the hills? or perhaps you are cold as ice? (altho' not if you were in toronto today where it was unaccountably in the mid-30s celcius)...

have i managed to distract you sufficiently?

Sorry...I feel your pain...I *love* that in our modern times we can google lyrics...it's saved me from your predicament many a time.

Here's my rec (which I'm sure you've already thought of!)...try to figure out where you heard it (a specific radio station?)...try to find it/hear it playing again..and then really try to get a few lyrics down...these days that's often enough for a search to be successful. (i know as i tend to get songs stuck in my head often! LOL!) Something weird/annoying that happens to me is I'll get a song (that I know) stuck in my head, and I'll think why in the world is THAT stuck in my head...and then my kids will say "oh we heard it yesterday in the store " . It's like I don't even know when I'm hearing it that it will be playing on repeat in my head several hours later!

        Good luck -- paula

            Mystery solved!

Thanks to DH, I now know that the song that has been bugging me is "Tom Sawyer" by Rush. I have no idea why. I don't know where I heard it. I am not a fan of the group, nor, with one exception, can I tell you any of the songs it made famous. That part will remain a mystery.

Actually, DH figured it out when I hummed the tune to the part that kept playing in a loop in my head. Amazingly, he recognized it. It's amazing because I am not known for my ability to sing or even carry a tune. You Tube confirmed he was right.

Thank goodness that is over! Maybe now that I'm not obsessing over the song title and artist, I can get it the heck out of my head.

Oh no, the song is still there

Right now, I go between Rush and Bruno Mars singing "Left Out of Heaven". Quite a pair, don't you think?

Again, I have no idea why. I am not particularly offended by either tune, but neither is something I would want to download on my iPod. And yet, there they are, banging around inside my head.

I guess it could be worse, right?

                            Oh no, not THAT!

Barney and the Bay City Rollers? Muskrat Love?

I have a plan, though. I'm about to head out on a long car trip, so I will load up with music I really like and blast it. I am hoping that at least one of those artists kicks the others out.

I'll let you know if my plan works...
