  • Need some quick medical advice (prev pg and TMI ment)

I haven't had AF since Feb 2005 when I got pg with my ds. Well yesterday she arrived in all her glory but since then I have been passing huge clots and going through either an overnight pad or a super tampon every hour. Does this seem pretty normal for the the first AF after having a baby or should I go see the doc? I don't want to visit the doc if I don't have to since I'd have to bring all three kids with me.

I know for a fact that I am not pg so this is NOT a m/c. It just seems pretty heavy to be AF though.

This is too much bleeding - rule of thumb is one pad per hour = you need to be seen. Can't someone watch your kiddos? 3 kids while you are having a pelvic - or perhaps a d&C is too hard to juggle - where's DH?

    Good luck - Sue

and won't be back until March, hence the reason I would have to take my kids.

Honey, I would call 911 right now. Good luck! I hope it stops.

I have had a period this heavy - for what duration

has it been bleeding this heavy? If it comes and goes - like for a few hours in the morning and then subsides a bit, I wouldn't worry as much. If it has been doing this for 24 hours straight, call the advise nurse at your gyn and see what they say. I am guessing they will want you to come in.

Personally, I would not be alarmed enough to call 911. I would not assume it is okay though.

          Good luck.

Ok, now you have me freaked out. I can't go to the ER. I can't find anyone to watch the kids.

So about 12 hours now. It hasn't tapered off at all. I just assumed it was this heavy because it's the first AF I've had in 20 months.

At least call your OB and see what he or she says.

I misread your post. I thought your baby arrived yesterday (couldn't read with constant interruptions).

                Don't freak!

Ok, heading to the doc in an hour...

My friend is coming over in an hour when she gets off work. It's actually getting worse now. I'm needing to change the pad every 40-45 minutes. I'm running out of clothes to wear too. I'm hope, hope, hoping this is nothing. I cannot be admitted to the hospital.

OK went to see the doc...

He said heavy bleeding like this isn't common but it's not unusual after almost 2 years. He gave me a script for Prevera, which I thought was used to bring on AF, but he said it can slow down the bleeding as well. Haven't seen any change yet but at least it's not getting worse.

Why is it that all the docs that work on weekends are the oldest, creepiest docs out there? And why is it "female" problems always happen on weekends?

                      Thanks everyone for your replies.
